Piercings The Piercing Process....

To begin with, you need to decide which piercing you would like. We can help you decide on the placement of your new piercing. The jewellery you choose from the selection offered to you will then be sterilised in an autoclave. For the majority of the body piercings, an anaesthetic gel will be applied approximately 10 minutes prior to give it time to work. With other locations, generally oral nipple and genital, the anaesthetic is applied just before the piercing as it works a lot faster on mucous membranes. The area will then be cleaned thoroughly, measured, and the entrance and exit point of the piercing will be marked in surgical pen.
The area will then be lightly clamped to keep the skin in position, this bit doesn’t hurt, it just feels a bit weird! As soon as your Piercer is happy with everything being where it should be, the needle will be passed through the skin in a swift movement that normally feels like a hard pinch. The needle is then withdrawn leaving a plastic tube behind. The jewellery is then threaded through this tube and then the tube is removed leaving the jewellery in place. The only thing left is to secure your jewellery and let you admire it! Often a cover is placed over your new adornment to protect it in its very early stages. You will be given what we consider to be the best piercing aftercare on the market and we will explain how to use it. You will also be given a handout to refer back to. We are always on hand to answer questions and give advice and we are happy to change your jewellery for you if you are not sure how to do it yourself. We want you to leave here happy, content and relaxed in the knowledge that we are always on the end of the phone if you have any worries or concerns.
